Chiropractic adjustments are very gentle, safe and effective. A chiropractor is the ONLY physician that has the proper training to deliver a specific adjustment to the spine. An adjustment is a gentle thrust to the spinal bones at a very specific speed and a very specific line of drive. The purpose of the adjustment is to gently realign the spinal bones to remove irritating pressure and stress off of the nerves that travel through the spine, including the spinal cord.
An adjustment can be done by hand or by instrument to move a vertebra back into place. This happens with a quick movement and is often without discomfort. You may hear a noise that sounds like you're cracking your knuckles, referred to as joint cavitation. It is the release of gases such as oxygen and nitrogen from the joint.
Adjustments are an excellent way to keep the body functioning at its highest level. When the spine is in alignment, the body is able to respond and perform at it's best.
